iQOO has launched the iQOO Z9 series in China, including the standard iQOO Z9 and the entry-level iQOO Z9x, which we’ve discussed in another post. Here, we’ll focus on the high-end iQOO Z9 Turbo.
The iQOO Z9 Turbo positions itself in the crowded mid-range market with features that rival some flagships. Here’s a breakdown of what the Z9 Turbo offers.
Display and Build
The Z9 Turbo has a large 6.72-inch OLED display. It has a sharp 1.5K resolution and a smooth 144Hz refresh rate, making visuals enjoyable. A fingerprint scanner is built into the screen for security. The design is similar to other Z9 phones, with a flat frame and a distinct square-shaped camera bump reminiscent of the iQOO 12. An IP64 rating means it can handle dust and splashes.
Cameras
Taking pictures is handled by a dual rear camera system. The main sensor is a Sony IMX882 with 50MP and optical image stabilization (OIS) for clear photos. An 8MP ultra-wide lens helps capture wider scenes. On the front, a 16MP camera takes care of selfies and video calls.
Performance and Storage
The Z9 Turbo is powered by the latest Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor, which should provide good performance. This is paired with up to 16GB of RAM and expandable storage of up to 512GB, allowing for smooth multitasking and plenty of space for apps and files. To prevent overheating during demanding tasks, the phone uses a 6K VC liquid cooling system.
Battery Life and Charging
A large 6,000mAh battery keeps the Z9 Turbo running for extended periods. When it’s time to recharge, the phone supports 80W fast wired charging for quick top-ups. There’s also 7.5W wireless reverse charging to share power with compatible devices.
Software and Connectivity
The Z9 Turbo runs on the latest Android 14 with OriginOS 4 on top, offering some customization options. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, and a USB-C port for data transfers.
Pricing and Availability
The iQOO Z9 Turbo starts at a competitive price of CNY 1,999 (around $275) for the base 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant. With its mix of mid-range pricing and high-end features, the Z9 Turbo is a smartphone to consider in the competitive mid-range market.
We hope iQOO launches this phone in the country, as it appears to be a solid offering based on its specifications.
