19:11 hrs IST: Hello and welcome to the coverage of the third match of the Indian Premier League season 9. Kings XI Punjab take on the Gujarat Lions – who will be playing their first ever IPL match – at Mohali this evening.

Suresh Raina’s first big test as a captain of an IPL team will start in Mohali on Monday. Raina, who was short on form during the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup, will lead a Gujarat Lions team that probably has the best all-rounders in the IPL.

Tonight, there will be a lot of attention on the foreign players in both Kings XI Punjab and Gujarat Lions. David Miller will start KXIP’s Mission Redemption after Australian George Bailey failed to lift the team last season.

South African Miller will expect Glenn Maxwell and Shaun Marsh to come good while Murali Vijay (ex-Chennai Super Kings), Axar Patel and the talented Gurkeerat Singh Mann will add the Indian flavor.

Man-to-man, Raina’s Lions look stronger on paper. A team that boasts of three top-class all-rounders – Ravindra Jadeja, James Faulkner and Dwayne Bravo – can surely fancy their chances. Add to that a Brendon McCullum and an Aaron Finch. Lions have a heady combination and will surely gun for a play-off position in their maiden season.
