Karnataka government takes BIG step to curb COVID-19 spread in Bengaluru

The Karnataka government will conduct door-to-door health check-ups of people for COVID-19 in the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) limits. The revenue minister said that nearly 108 teams have been formed for door-to-door health check-ups, which will start from August 16 for all members.  While many areas in Karnataka’s capital are recording fewer cases of COVID-19, Bommanahalli, Yelahanka, and Mahadevapura zones are recording more infections, R Ashoka said in a press conference and added that these zones will now be given prime importance and measures will be taken to contain the spread of coronavirus.

He said that 2 teams along with doctors per constituency will be sent for door-to-door check-ups on a trial basis and more doctors will be roped in for the purpose, IANS reported, adding that vehicles and other facilities will be arranged for the healthcare workers.

The doctors will check the health status and vaccination details of family members, and will also check for COVID symptoms, and if they find any, immediate testing will be done. There are triaging centres in BBMP wards, in case people are found with COVID-like symptoms, IANS reported.

The COVID positivity rate in Bengaluru stands between 0.9 and 0.64 percent as the cases in the state capital remain between 400-500 every day.

R Ashoka said, “The more numbers are seen in Bengaluru and we will ensure that apartment residents are all tested for Covid and along with that we have requested to strictly ensure the closing of common areas like a Swimming pool, gyms, and parks in the apartment premises.”
