iPhone 13: latest rumours on Apple’s new device, including UK price, features and specs

When will the new iPhones be revealed?

Apple is set to hold its launch event on September 14 at 6pm UK time. The phones will then be available for pre-order from Friday September 17, and are expected to hit the shelves around a week later, on Friday September 24.

What new features will we see on the iPhone 13?

This year’s iPhones are expected to be quite iterative on previous devices. Last year, Apple gave consumers a big internal update, with 5G wireless modems allowing all the phones to connect to the fastest data speeds.

This year, we are expecting a more advanced version of the Portrait mode for the phone’s camera. This will allow users to create films will a blurring effect in the background of the video, Bloomberg reports.

The new handsets will also come with a feature called ProRes, a higher filming quality that will improve the look and colour of videos.

Inside, it will have an A15 chip, and design-wise the phones will feature a smaller “notch”, the cut-out at the top of the screen that holds the phone’s selfie camera.

Some hoped-for features, such as a return of Touch ID with an under screen sensor, are not expected on this year’s device.

The new phone will, however, come with a screen featuring a faster refresh rate. This should make for smoother scrolling and crisper video games. The iPhone refresh rate will increase from 60Hz to 120Hz.

According to a report from analysts at Wedbush, citing supply chain experts, Apple’s new phones will include the option to boost their internal storage to 1TB of data, the most ever on an iPhone.
