visionOS SDK downloads reportedly surpass Apple's expectations – The Apple Post

Downloads of Apple’s visionOS software development kit (SDK) has surpass expectations, according to Steve Sinclair, Senior Director of Product Marketing for Apple Vision Pro, who purports developer interest is high for the new Apple mixed-reality headset.

In an interview with Digital Trends, Sinclair said that “the number of SDK downloads has exceeded [Apple’s] expectations,” as developers begin creating apps for the Apple Vision Pro headset, which will be available beginning in the US next year.

The visionOS SDK uses the same foundational frameworks developers already use to create apps for other Apple operating systems, with tools including technologies like Xcode, SwiftUI, RealityKit, ARKit, and TestFlight.

In June, Apple opened new hands-on Apple Vision Pro developer labs for developers to experience how their visionOS, iPadOS, or iOS apps will run on Vision Pro, with new pop-up workshops opening in Cupertino, London, Munich, Shanghai, Singapore, and Tokyo.

Additionally, developers can apply to receive an Apple Vision Prodevelopment kit for in-office testing, although kits are strictly limited to select developers.
