Twitter Outage: Is Elon Musk's Social Media Giant Down For Users For Third Time In Day? Find Out!

Elon Musk-backed Twitter is facing an outage for most likely the third time in a row on Monday, March 10. Users across countries have complained about not being able to access their Twitter account, while the company has not made any official statement as of now. The majority of the outages are detected to be on websites and mobile apps.

A report by Downdetector stated that over 40,000 users could not access Twitter during the second outage, while over 2,400 users faced issues during the first outage which began at 3.22 PM on Monday. Thousands of users faced issues during the third outage that began around 9.22 PM.

The Downdetector highlighted that most of the problems were reported on the website which accounted for 52% of the outages, while 40% of the outage was seen on the Twitter app, and 8% on server connection.

A Tomsguide report mentioned that while it took a lot longer, we’ve finally seen a slight but notable downturn in the reports. This outage peaked at 29,143, and as of this post, it’s sitting at 26,428. That’s about 3,000 reports less than its peak, which could mean we’re getting to the end of this outage.

Another report on Lifehacker said that X is down. Users made 150,000 reports on Downdetector on Monday morning.

Meanwhile, Twitter’s services policy states “In consideration for Twitter granting you access to and use of the Services, you agree that Twitter and its third-party providers and partners may place advertising on the Services or in connection with the display of Content or information from the Services whether submitted by you or others. You also agree not to misuse our Services, for example, by interfering with them or accessing them using a method other than the interface and the instructions that we provide.”

The terms of the condition of Twitter added, “Our Services evolve constantly. As such, the Services may change from time to time, at our discretion. We may stop (permanently or temporarily) providing the Services or any features within the Services to you or to users generally. We also retain the right to create limits on use and storage at our sole discretion at any time. We may also remove or refuse to distribute any Content on the Services, suspend or terminate users, and reclaim usernames without liability to you.”

Twitter, officially known as X since 2023, is a social networking service. It is one of the world’s largest social media platforms and one of the most-visited websites. Users can share short text messages, images, and videos in short posts commonly known as “tweets” (officially “posts”) and like other users’ content. The platform also includes direct messaging, video and audio calling, bookmarks, lists, communities, a chatbot (Grok), job search, and Spaces, a social audio feature. Users can vote on context added by approved users using the Community Notes feature, as per the Wikipedia.

Musk bought Twitter in October 2022 for $44 billion. Musk stated that his goal with the acquisition was to promote free speech on the platform. Since his acquisition, the platform has been criticized for enabling the increased spread of disinformation and hate speech.
