Indian film and television actor Gajendra Chauhan, best known for his portrayal of Yudhishthira in the historical TV series ‘Mahabharat’ on Thursday hit out at international pop icon Rihanna for her tweet extending support to the farmers protesting in the country against agri laws.
In a video released hours ago, Gajendra warned Rihanna to not speak about the internal matters of India and to keep her “mouth shut”.
In the video, Gajendra Chauhan is heard saying “India is a democracy. Our democracy allows us the right to hold demonstrations and to organise protests. For the last few months, the farmers of our country have been holding a protest. On this issue, an international celebrity, Rihanna, has put out a tweet. I warn Rihanna, not to tweet about the internal affairs of our country. I condemn her act. I just want to tell Rihanna ‘shut your mouth’. We do not give you permission to interfere in our internal matters. It is an old reality that some celebrities are paid to put out tweets. I want to ask Rihanna what does she know about the agri laws? Does she know where the Red Fort, Tikri border, Ghazipur border and Singhu border are?
He continued saying, “I am sure she knows nothing about this issue. Then why tweet?”
He further added, ” I urge the citizens of the nation, especially the farmers, to resolve our internal matters via talks with the government and not give an opportunity to people from other countries to take advantage of the situation.”

Earlier, Bollywood actress slammed Rihanna for her tweet on farmers protest.
Soon after Rihanna’s tweet, Kangana tweeted calling her a fool and a dummy. Kangana also said the protesting farmers were terrorists.
Reacting to her tweet, Kangana wrote: “No one is talking about it because they are not farmers they are terrorists who are trying to divide India so that China can take over our vulnerable broken nation and make it a Chinese colony much like USA… Sit down you fool, we are not selling our nation like you dummies.”
Other Bollywood stars too came out in support of the government after the Ministry of External Affairs reacted to Rihanna and climate activist Greta Thunberg’s tweets calling them ‘irresponsible’.
The celebrities used hashtags like #IndiaAgainstPropaganda and #IndiaTogether to show their support towards the nation and against international celebrities interfering in the internal matters of the country.
For the unversed, on Tuesday, Rihanna reacted to a news piece talking about the protest on Twitter and wrote: “Why aren’t we talking about this? #FarmersProtest .”
The pop star’s tweet went viral and blew up into a full-fledged controversy.
