An LLB degree holder from University of London, 30-year-old Mawra Hocane made her Bollywood debut in 2016.
Pakistan skipper Babar Azam is the most popular cricketer in his country. Consequently, he commands the respect and administration of celebrities in Pakistan, much like the love and support showered on the Men in Blue by Bollywood and other Indian film industries. Several Pakistani actors and actresses have come out in support of Azam in the past. More recently in March this year, Mawra Hocane grabbed headlines with her public backing of Azam.
An LLB from University of London, 30-year-old Mawra Hocane made her Bollywood debut in 2016. She starred alongside Harshvardhan Rane in the film Sanam Teri Kasam. In her Bollywood debut, she portrayed a “South Indian girl working as a librarian”. She won praise and critical acclaim for her performance. The Radhika Rao-Vinay Sapru directorial came two years before the Pakistani actress’ film debut in her own country with the 2018 comedy drama Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2.
At the time, Mawra had slammed the media in what she claimed was an attempt to undermine the authority of Pakistan captain Babar Azam who had been rested for a 3-match series versus Afghanistan.
“Just like most of the media.. a journalist yet again being inappropriate… Leave the team alone.. they’re more United than you think.. & learn to respect the cricketer the world is bowing down to! MashaAllah,” Mawra had said in a tweet.
Hocane began her entertainment career as a VJ. She made her debut as an actor back in 2011 with Khichdi Salsa. She has gained popularity for TV shows like Aahista Aashita, Ek Tamanna Lahasil Si, Sammi, Sabaat and Qissa Meherbano Ka. Mawra Hocane will be next seen in Pakistani series Neem. Mawra Hocane was born as Mawra Hussain in the Pakistan metropolis of Karachi. Her sister Urwa Hocane is also an actress and a model.
