Thanksgiving 2021: Martha Stewart made 30 pies, The Rock gifts truck, Dolly Parton shows off Dean

Martha Stewart knows that Thanksgiving isn’t a sprint, it’s a marathon – and her marathon baking project took almost an entire day to complete.

“It took me about twenty hours to make thirty pies,” the lifestyle mogul shared in an Instagram post Wednesday. “Ten pecan brown butter rum, ten cranberry tarts in almond crusts, and ten five spice powder flavored pumpkin pies in pate brisee crusts.”

She continued, alongside multiple photos of the pies: “Everyone who works on the farm got to choose one of the three pies I was making this year I hope they like their choices. (I kept one of each for my thanksgiving lunch ). Now onto the stuffings and the turkeys and the sides !!!”

More stars showed off their 2021 Thanksgiving dishes and shared what they are thankful for. Here’s a look at how these celebrities spent their day of gratitude.

The Bidens

President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden are just like us – they tuned into Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Thursday morning, like millions of viewers. But unlike the rest of us, the Bidens called Al Roker during the live NBC broadcast.

“Oh my gosh, look at who’s calling,” the “Today” show host said, while showing the president’s face pop up on his phone.

“My message (to citizens) is after two years you’re back, America’s back,” Biden said on the call. “There’s nothing we’re unable to overcome, Al, and you’re one of the reasons for that, pal. You’re always up. You’re always rooting.”

Roker responded: “Thank you so much. I hope you’re going to continue to watch the parade. Santa is coming. Santa is coming, Mr. President!”

“I’m waiting for Santa,” Biden replied.

NBC News’ Andrea Mitchell shared a picture of the sweet encounter on Twitter. The photo shows the first couple smiling in front of the television as they lean into a cell phone held by Biden.

Michelle Obama

The former first lady shared a photo of Sunny, the her family’s Portuguese Water Dog, who posed near a “Happy Thanksgiving” banner and a toy turkey breast.

“Happy Thanksgiving from Sunny and our entire family! We hope you all have a wonderful day, giving thanks for everyone you love,” Obama tweeted.

Former president Barack Obama also shared a Thanksgiving message on Instagram.

“This Thanksgiving, I am reminded of the many things—big and small—we have to be thankful for,” he wrote on Instagram. “Michelle and I are especially grateful for our family, for the progress we continue to make as a country, and for the young leaders around the world who are working to build a better future. We send our warmest wishes to everyone celebrating today, and hope you have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving.”

Dolly Parton

The country music icon shared a rare throwback photo of her and husband Carl Dean on Instagram Thursday: “Happy #Thanksgiving from me and mine to you and yours.”

Dean largely stays out of the spotlight, but Parton sharing photos of her elusive husband has sparked praise from fans, who are truly thankful.

“Obsessed with all the Carl Dean publicity lately,” commented @haleywould. User @Kellybendetti added, “Hubba hubba. What a cool confident man you’ve got.”

In an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson” from 1977, Parton revealed she met Dean the first day she arrived in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1964. The two would end up tying the knot two years later.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson

Johnson gave more than thanks this holiday. He gave away his own “personal custom truck” to Navy veteran Oscar Rodriguez after the actor heard his story.

“He deserves a lot more than my personal truck,” the actor tweeted, alongside a sweet video of the reveal on Wednesday. “Kindness matters to me, so thanks @ORodri240 for being so kind to so many people.”

Johnson continued: “Enjoy your new truck dude.”

The “Red Notice” star surprised Rodriguez and other fans during a special screening of the film in Los Angeles, but Johnson said he “also wanted to do something BIG… something MASSIVE… something unforgettable for one fan.”

Johnson said that “Oscar’s story moved me,” explaining that the “proud and humble” veteran “takes care of his 75 year old mom,” is a “personal trainer” and “leader at his church” that provides “support and meals for women victimized by domestic violence.”

“What the heck is happening!” an emotional Rodriguez said after the reveal.
