Actor-politician Sunny Deol on Thursday cleared the air on reports that claimed the ‘Apne’ star was given Y-category security after his expressed his opinion on the ongoing farmers’ protest. 
Dismissing reports, Sunny Deol, MP from Gurdaspur, tweeted that he had been accorded Y-category security in July 2020 and stated that any media reports claiming otherwise were wrong. He added that any attempt to link his Y security to the ongoing farmer’s protest was outright incorrect.
In another tweet, the actor-director urged the media to verify facts before publishing them. 
Tweeting in Hindi, Sunny wrote, “Since yesterday, there have been some inaccurate media reports that I have recently received Y Security. I have been provided with this security since July 2020. An attempt to link this security provision to the ongoing farmers’ protest is wrong.” 
In a follow-up tweet, he added, “I request my media colleagues to verify the facts before publishing any report.”

There were media reports which claimed that the Central government provided Y-category security to Sunny of 11 personnel, comprising two commandos after the actor backed new farm laws.
Earlier, the Bollywood actor took to Twitter to post a picture of his statement on the ongoing farmers’ protest.
“I request the whole world that it is a matter between our farmers and the government. Do not come between them, because both will find a way after discussions. I know that many people want to take benefits from it and are creating problems. They are not thinking of farmers. They may have their own agenda,” he said.

“Deep Siddhu, who was with me during the election has not been with me for a long time and whatever he is speaking, he is saying on his own. I am in no way related to his activities. I stand with my party and farmers and will always be with farmers. Our government always thinks of the betterment of farmers and I am sure that the government will ensure the right outcome after holding talks with farmers,” he added.
