Shaheer Sheikh opens up about facing financial struggles before bagging ‘Mahabharat’

TV star Shaheer Sheikh who hit headlines after his wife Ruchikaa Kapoor and he welcomed a baby girl on September 9, in a recent interview opened up about facing a financial crisis and being jobless for nearly a year after the show ‘Navya…Naye Dhadkan Naye Sawaal’ went off the air in 2012.
Shaheer added that he took up photography for a brief period of time to make ends meet and kept giving auditions until such a time the epic show ‘Mahabharat’ came his way.
During an interview with Zoom, Shaheer spoke about the financial struggles he encountered during the initial days of his career. “Of course, there was a big gap between Navya and Mahabharat when I had switched to photography. I started doing photography. I used to do folios for my friends because there were few projects which were getting delayed. There was almost one year span where I was only doing auditions and roaming around. So, I think that was the phase between Navya and Mahabharat,” Shaheer Sheikh said.
On the work front, Shaheer’s new show ‘Pavitra Rishta 2’ opposite Ankita Lokhande recently dropped on Zee5. The actor is seen essaying the role of Manav, which was previously played by actor Sushant Singh Rajput, while Ankita is seen reprising her role as Archana Deshmukh.

Speaking about stepping into the shoes of late Sushant Singh Rajput, Shaheer had written in an Instagram post how reluctant he was at first to get onboard the project. Shaheer also revealed what made him change his mind. He wrote, “When I was first approached for Pavitra Rishta, I was taken aback. Who in their right frame of mind, would dare to play a character immortalised by Sushant Singh Rajput..I too was reluctant. Then I thought, knowing Sushant he was one to take every challenge head on. And so I decided that while it is scary to step into his shoes & live upto audience expectations… it is scarier to NOT even try.And so I did what I felt he would do, if he was in my position. I took the challenge. When the team told me they wanted someone who was earnest so that we could all tell a story that was a fitting homage to Sushant’s legacy… I decided to give it my all and leave the rest to the audiences and to The All Mighty. Working with a team that loved & respected him immensely only adds to the genuine intent in all our hearts. Sushant, you will always be Manav. Nothing can change that & no one can replace that. I may not be as good, and I may not do justice to it like you did, but I promise to give it my ALL. #pavitrarishta2.”
