Cash pickup, cash delivery, cheque pickup, cheque requisition slip pickup, form 15H pickup, delivery of drafts, delivery of term deposit advice, life certificate pickup, and KYC documents pickup are just a few of the services offered by the country’s largest lender, State Bank of India (SBI). Through SBI’s doorstep banking, the amount of cash withdrawal and deposit is limited to Rs 20,000 per transaction per day. SBI charges Rs 60+GST per visit for non-financial transactions and Rs 100+GST for financial transactions. Last year, upon unveiling its doorstep banking service, HDFC Bank stated on Twitter that “While you are social distancing, #SimplifyLife with HDFC Bank Doorstep Banking. We bring banking home to senior citizens & differently-abled so that they don’t have to visit the branch. Opt for comfortable cash and cheque pick-up & drop services.” Customers can use this service only on bank working days by dialling HDFC Phone Banking number from their registered phone number, and any request made before 3 p.m. on Day 0 will be processed on working Day 1.

Requests submitted after 3 p.m. will be handled on an ideal basis on Day 1 or on Day 2. Doorstep banking is currently only offered in select locations, and HDFC Bank customers should check with their branch manager or relationship manager for the most up-to-date details. In consideration of the self-drawn cheque, a cash delivery service will be offered to the bank customers at their registered address only. At HDFC Bank, the maximum cash delivery limit per withdrawal will be Rs. 25,000/-, with a minimum amount of Rs. 5000/-. As of now, HDFC Bank charges Rs. 200/- per call + taxes for cash pickup or delivery and Rs. 100/- per call + taxes for instrument pickup.

ICICI Bank

ICICI Bank also provides a DSB service, which allows customers to have a number of basic financial services delivered to their doorstep without having to register with the bank. Customers can use the DSB facility if they have a savings bank account, and they can request it on any business day except holidays. To use the DSB service, the account must have a registered PAN/Form 60 and Aadhaar number, as well as should be in the active condition. The services under the DSB facility are provided free of charge by ICICI Bank and to avail the same they call the customer care numbers of the bank. However, ICICI Bank is not providing DSB service to its customers and for the same, the bank has clearly mentioned on its website that “The services are temporarily not available due to current situation of COVID-19.”

For the convenience of its customers, Axis Bank provides doorstep banking, which allows you to call a Phone Banking Officer of the bank and request a service at your leisure. Axis doorstep banking provides services such as cash pickup, instrument pickup, and cash and demand draft delivery. Doorstep Banking is offered at all locations and is also available to Senior Citizens and customers with disabilities.

Customers can contact a Phone Banking Officer for any of the doorstep services by dialling 1-860-419-5555 or 1-860-500-5555 (charges may apply depending on the service provider). Savings Account Premium customers (Priority and Burgundy customers) who reside within 5 kilometres of the base branch are eligible for four free doorstep banking requests per month.

After four free services per month, non-Premium Savings Account customers and Savings Account Premium customers (Priority and Burgundy customers) will be charged Rs. 100 + service tax per service and regular transaction charges. Axis Bank now allows one doorstep banking request per customer per day, and cash pick-up/delivery for Savings Account and Current Account users is limited to Rs. 50,000 per request. All phone banking requests received before 1:00 p.m. will be handled by the branch the same day and requests received after 1:00 p.m. may be addressed the next day. The agent will only receive requests until 11:30 a.m. on Saturdays.

Punjab National Bank provides its customers (individual and corporate) with Doorstep Banking Services, which allows them to avail services such as cash pickup, pickup of Cheques/instruments, from their registered residence address. To use the service, customers just simply fill out an enrollment form and submit it at their home branch. Customers who maintain the minimum balance limit on their savings or current accounts can use the DSB service without any charges. Kotak Mahindra Bank

Cash pick-up/delivery, Demand Draft delivery, and KYC paperwork pickup are all available through Kotak Mahindra Bank’s doorstep banking. But the bank has mentioned on its official website that “The above-mentioned service will be impacted in areas with strict restrictions on people movement due to COVID-19 lockdown on a Pan-India basis”, which is a point to note here. Only active savings account customers are eligible for the Doorstep Banking Service, which will be delivered at the customers’ registered dwelling address.
