Phir
Aayi
Hasseen
Dillruba
starring
Taapsee
Pannu,
Vikrant
Massey,
and
Sunny
Kaushal
premiered
on
Netflix
a
few
days
ago.
While
the
first
instalmet
of
the
film
was
directed
by
Vinil
Mathew,
the
sequel
is
directed
by
Jayprad
Desai.
Phir
Aayi
Hasseen
Dillruba
hs
received
mixed
to
positive
reviews,
and
the
performance
of
Taapsee,
Vikrant,
and
Sunny
is
being
loved
by
one
and
all.
Filmibeat
recently
interacted
with
Desai
and
spoke
to
him
about
the
response,
Sunny
Kaushal
having
a
better
role
and
more…
How
has
been
the
response
for
Phir
Aayi
Hasseen
Dillruba?
Amazing!
Honestly,
it
is
bigger
than
expected.
It’s
been
trending
in
India
and
globally,
so
it
is
huge
even
for
Netflix.
The
first
instalment
was
directed
by
Vinil
Mathew,
and
now,
you
were
taking
the
franchise
forward.
So,
was
there
a
pressure
or
nervousness
while
shooting
for
the
film?
Not
during
the
shoot.
The
sequel
is
always
compared
to
the
first
film,
so
there
was
skepticism
and
a
kind
of
challenge.
But,
that’s
why
it
was
exciting
as
well.
When
things
are
at
stake
it
helps
you,
when
you
take
a
bigger
challenge,
you
work
doubly
hard,
and
deliver.
Everyone
has
marked
one
thing
that
Sunny
Kaushal
has
a
fantastic
role
in
the
film.
So,
was
there
a
hesitation
from
Taapsee
or
Vikrant’s
side
when
they
read
the
script
or
during
the
shoot
that
there’s
a
third
person
who
has
a
better
role
than
them?
No,
there
was
no
skepticism
from
them.
But,
you
are
right
that
when
there’s
a
character
who
has
shade
of
grey
that
slowly
unfolds
during
the
course
of
script,
you
always
have
a
lot
to
play
with.
It
tends
to
become
more
colourful
and
excited
which
might
be
discomforting
to
other
actors
especially
when
they
are
taking
the
franchise
ahead.
But,
I
think
both
Taapsee
and
Vikrant
were
self-asured.
They
have
been
part
of
this
world
and
people
now
know
them
as
Rani
and
Rishu.
We
got
to
watch
Phir
Aayi
Hasseen
Dillruba
on
the
big
screens
at
a
screening,
and
we
felt
that
this
was
made
for
big
screens.
The
first
part
was
released
on
OTT
because
of
the
pandemic.
But,
was
there
anywhere
in
your
mind
that
you
wanted
the
second
part
to
have
a
theatrical
release?
Thank
you
very
much!
I
am
getting
a
lot
of
feedback
from
people
that
it
could
have
been
a
theatrical
release
as
the
canvas
is
huge.
After
the
first
film,
this
had
become
a
Netflix
franchise,
although
while
shooting
we
were
open
to
the
possibilty
of
taking
it
to
theatres
as
well.
I
wanted
to
make
it
larger
than
life
because
there
are
certain
things
about
the
plot
which
might
seem
implausible
if
they
are
not
mounted
in
that
way.
I
would
have
liked
a
theatrical
release,
as
a
filmmaker
you
always
want
that,
but
I
think
Netflix
has
been
an
amazing
partner
and
collaborator.
I
really
value
the
relationship
that
we
have
had.
So,
is
the
third
instalment
also
in
the
plans?
Well,
there’s
always
a
possibility.
The
way
the
story
ends,
there’s
always
a
cliffhanger
that
helps
you
expand
the
world.
It’s
not
that
we
have
a
story,
but
of
course,
it
is
a
world
that
can
be
expanded.
So,
of
course,
there’s
a
possibilty.
After
Phir
Aayi
Hasseen
Dillruba,
what
projects
are
you
working
on?
There
are
a
couple
of
things;
one
is
a
con
film
which
I
might
get
into
next.
It
is
about
a
real
incident,
a
real
person.
The
script
is
almost
at
the
finishing
stage.
There’s
a
light
romantic
film
which
is
also
on
the
cards.
