NEW DELHI: Two candidates scored a perfect 720 in this year’s National Eligibility-cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG), but Odisha’s Soyeb Aftab was ranked first for being older than Delhi girl Akanksha Singh. Results for the MBBS/ BDS entrance test were declared by the National Testing Authority on Friday evening.

There are seven female candidates among the top 20, while Andhra Pradesh got the highest number of toppers. With a score of 665, Mahesh from Haryana is the topper among persons with disabilities. The total female candidates who qualified in the exams is 4,27,943 as against 3,43,556 male candidates.

Delhi (75.5%) recorded the highest percentage of qualification with respect to number of candidates appearing from the state, followed by Haryana with 72.9%. A total of 85.6% of the 16 lakh candidates who registered for the exam had appeared for the test.

Aftab has been living in Kota from the last two-and-a-half years. He never stepped out of Kota since August 2018, with a dream to crack a medical seat in any of the government colleges. “I would certainly go for the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS),” he said.
