OnePlus officially teased its first foldable smartphone back in February during the OnePlus 11 5G launch event. However, more than half a year on and OnePlus is yet to unveil its first foldable smartphone.

While OnePlus teased the launch of its upcoming foldable smartphone in Q3 of 2023, that doesn’t appear to be the case. But the company did confirm that the device will be labelled the OnePlus Open.

OnePlus Open Foldable Smartphone Launch Timeline

According to tipster Max Jambor, the OnePlus Open launch date will take place globally on October 19. The tipster also added that the OnePlus Open foldable smartphone will go on sale soon after its launch.

A report by MySmartPrice noted that the “Robin Liu, CEO of OnePlus North America, and Dr. Zeng Xi, Creative Director, revealed that the launch of its foldable device marks the 10-year milestone of OnePlus.”

OnePlus is set to detail a timeline for the launch of its first foldable smartphone. However, the smartphone maker has confirmed that more details about the upcoming OnePlus Open will be released through the official OnePlus website, social media channels, and OnePlus forums.

OnePlus Open Rumour Mill

According to past reports, the OnePlus Open will be a rebranded version of the upcoming Oppo Find N3. Tipster Yogesh Brar hinted that the OnePlus Open price will start from under Rs 1,20,000. The OnePlus Open will rival the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Tecno Phantom V Fold in India.

The OnePlus Open is also expected to feature Hasselblad cameras on the back, which suggests flagship camera performance. It is also expected to get a ToF (LiDAR) sensor. The OnePlus Open could feature a 7.8-inch 2K AMOLED 120Hz display when unfolded, while the secondary display will feature a 6.3-inch AMOLED panel.

The OnePlus Open will likely be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. The phone is expected to pack a 4,800 mAh battery with 67W wired fast charging support. The OnePlus Open could run Android 13-based Oxygen OS 13.1 with a few customizations to optimize the foldable form factor.
