A motorcycle rider was killed when he collided with a vehicle on Bear Valley Road in Apple Valley.
San Bernardino County Sheriff’s officials identified the motorcycle rider as 23-year-old Trevor McGill of Apple Valley.
Apple Valley sheriff’s officials reported that at approximately 10:37 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14, deputies and Apple Valley Fire personnel responded to the collision on Bear Valley Road and Savage Lane.
The area is just east of Deep Creek Road and near an automotive repair shop and U-Haul dealer.
At the scene, deputies determined that a white Toyota Corolla, driven by Shelly Goforth, 32, of Apple Valley, was traveling westbound on Bear Valley Road and approaching Savage Lane.
Meanwhile, a white and blue Suzuki motorcycle, driven by McGill, was traveling eastbound on Bear Valley Road from Deep Creek Road.
Goforth made a left turn into Savage Lane in front of McGill, causing the motorcycle and vehicle to collide, authorities reported.
During the collision, McGill was ejected and sustained major injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene, sheriff’s officials said.
Goforth was uninjured and remained at the scene to cooperate with the investigation, deputies said.
An investigator from the sheriff’s department’s major accident investigative team arrived at the scene.
Bear Valley Road was closed between Deep Creek Road and Mockingbird Avenue for approximately four hours while deputies processed the scene and interviewed witnesses.
