Apple is set to unveil the hotly anticipated iPhone 15 series today, on September 12. This new lineup is expected to include the standard iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. We are hyped for the potential changes coming in this year’s iPhones as these are poised to include a USB Type-C port, thinner bezels, and better cameras. However, recent reports have cast a shadow of uncertainty over this excitement, as whispers of a potential price hike for the Pro models of the iPhone 15 series have emerged.
The Pro Models and the Price Conundrum
Renowned Apple analyst Mark Gurman offers valuable insights into the potential pricing shift of the Pro models. Since the debut of the iPhone X back in 2017, Apple’s flagship iPhone pricing has consistently hovered around the $999 mark in the United States for the base model. However, the winds of change may be blowing with the arrival of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, potentially signaling a departure from this pricing tradition.

Higher Price Tag: Understanding the Reasons
Gurman explains that Apple has been attempting to boost its revenue in recent years, as it hasn’t seen significant year-over-year growth in unit sales. Consequently, Apple is now offering 1TB variants of iPhones with prices reaching as high as $1599.
Apple’s strategy seems to have had some success, with the company experiencing a $70 billion increase in revenue over the past five years while selling roughly the same number of iPhones annually.
While the prospect of a price increase may concern Apple users, rumors surrounding the iPhone 15 series suggest that Apple is considering significant improvements over its predecessor. According to Gurman, the price difference between the iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Pro could potentially be as much as $300.
The Price vs. Features Debate
The iPhone 15 Pro series is rumored to feature a titanium frame and thinner bezels, adding durability and a premium look to the device. Moreover, the Pro models may include a periscope lens, expanding the optical zoom capability from 3X to 6X. This enhancement alone could be a game-changer for photography enthusiasts. Additionally, the Pro models will be equipped with the A17 Bionic chipset, the world’s first 3nm processor.
While the prospect of a higher price tag may raise eyebrows, the impressive features and improvements that come with it are hard to ignore. Apple continues to set the bar high for the industry, and the iPhone 15 series is looking to be no exception.
