Sexual
Crimes:
In
response
to
the
Justice
Hema
Committee
report,
the
Kerala
government
has
taken
a
significant
step
to
address
sexual
harassment
in
the
Malayalam
film
industry
by
appointing
a
special
investigation
team.
The
seven-member
team,
which
includes
four
women,
will
operate
under
the
supervision
of
the
Crime
ADGP.
The
formation
of
this
team
was
announced
by
Chief
Minister
Pinarayi
Vijayan
after
a
meeting
with
senior
police
officials
to
discuss
the
matter.

The
special
investigative
team
will
be
led
by
Police
IG
Sparjan
Kumar
and
will
include
senior
female
police
officers.
The
team
is
tasked
with
thoroughly
investigating
complaints
and
revelations
related
to
sexual
harassment
within
the
industry.
Crime
Branch
ADGP
H.
Venkatesh
will
oversee
the
team’s
operations.

Kerala
Police
Academy),

Law
&
Order),
and
S.
Madhusoodanan
(SP,
Crime
Branch,
Thiruvananthapuram).
Their
primary
responsibility
will
be
to
record
statements
from
those
who
have
made
allegations,
ensuring
a
comprehensive
investigation.

This
decision
follows
discussions
between
the
Chief
Minister
and
the
Director
General
of
Police
(DGP)
and
comes
in
the
wake
of
renewed
controversies
sparked
by
the
Justice
Hema
Committee
report.
The
government
has
indicated
that
legal
action
will
be
taken
if
the
complainants
stand
by
their
allegations,
signaling
a
firm
stance
on
addressing
the
issue.
