A
young
man
has
recently
lodged
a
sexual
assault
complaint
against
renowned
director
Ranjith,
alleging
that
he
was
subjected
to
sexual
assault
by
the
filmmaker
in
2012.
The
complainant,
a
resident
of
Kozhikode,
has
reported
the
incident
to
a
special
police
team
dedicated
to
investigating
complaints
within
the
film
industry.

According
to
the
complaint,
the
young
man
first
encountered
Ranjith
during
a
film
shoot
in
Kozhikode.
Seeking
a
career
opportunity,
he
later
visited
a
hotel
room
where
Ranjith
allegedly
provided
him
with
his
phone
number
written
on
a
tissue
paper
and
requested
that
he
send
a
message.

Subsequently,
the
complainant
was
instructed
to
travel
to
the
Taj
Hotel
in
Bangalore
two
days
later.
Upon
his
arrival
at
around
10
p.m.,
Ranjith
reportedly
guided
him
to
enter
through
a
back
gate
and
provided
alcohol.
The
young
man
claims
that
after
being
served
alcohol,
he
was
forcibly
undressed
and
assaulted
by
Ranjith,
as
detailed
in
his
statement
reported
by
Asianet
News.

Earlier,
Bengali
actress
Sreelekha
Mitra
had
come
forward
with
serious
sexual
allegations
against
director
Ranjith.
The
actress
revealed
that
she
had
a
disturbing
experience
while
she
was
set
to
act
in
the
film
“Paleri
Manikyam,” directed
by
Ranjith.
Mitra
alleged
that
after
being
called
to
his
room,
Ranjith
touched
her
hands
and
wrists
and
then
stroked
her
neck
and
hair.
Following
the
controversy
that
erupted
after
these
accusations,
Ranjith
resigned
from
his
position
as
Chairman
of
the
Kerala
State
Chalachitra
Academy.

Prakash
Seeks
Anticipatory
Bail
Amid
Harassment
Allegations

In
a
separate
development,
director
V.K.
Prakash
has
approached
the
High
Court
seeking
anticipatory
bail
in
connection
with
a
complaint
filed
against
him
by
a
young
female
screenwriter.
The
complaint
accuses
V.K.
Prakash
of
harassment,
while
the
director
has
countered
by
alleging
that
the
complainant
has
a
criminal
background,
specifically
being
involved
in
a
honey
trap
case.
Prakash
has
also
informed
the
High
Court,
DGP,
and
the
special
investigation
team
about
these
allegations.
The
petition
for
anticipatory
bail
was
submitted
through
lawyer
Babu
S.
Nair.
