OpenAI chief working officer Brad Lightcap addressed the firing of CEO Sam Altman in a short message to workers on Saturday.

Lightcap wrote within the memo, obtained by CNBC, that everybody was taken abruptly and that he is had many conversations with the board to attempt to perceive their resolution.

“We will say definitively that the board’s resolution was not made in response to malfeasance or something associated to our monetary, enterprise, security, or safety/privateness practices,” he wrote.

Lightcap defined that there was a “breakdown in communication” between Altman and the board.
