Released in 2007 and directed by Imtiaz Ali, Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan-starrer Jab We Met was re-rleased in the theaters earlier this year on Valentine’s Day.
Starring Shahid Kapoor as Aditya and Kareena Kapoor Khan as Geet, the 2007 romantic comedy Jab We Met has gained a cult status in the Hindi cinema over the years due to the amazing chemistry between the leads, unforgettable dialogues, brilliant writing and direction by Imtiaz Ali, and memorable music by Pritam. Apart from Shahid and Kareena, Jab We Met also starred Dara Singh, Saumya Tandon, Pavan Malhotra, Brijendra Kala, Tarun Arora, and Kiran Juneja in pivotal roles.
There have been some reports recently that Shahid and Kareena will be returning for Jab We Met 2, which would also be directed by Imtiaz Ali. However, the actress’s spokesperson has denied these reports and confrmed that the sequel is not happening, in a conversation with Hindustan Times. A source was also quoted telling the portal, “It’s not true. Shahid has no clue where these rumours started from. Same is the case with Kareena, the rumours are false. Attempting such a project requires guts. The public loves the film too much.”
Jab We Met was re-released in theatres after more than 15 years on Valentine’s Day and saw packed cinema halls across the nation. Even Shahid himself made a surprise visit to one of the jam-packed theatres showing the film, clicked selfies with his fans, and shared a reel on his Instagram.
Meanwhile, after Shahid made his OTT debut earlier this year with the Prime Video’s crime drama web series Farzi, now Kareena will be seen making her OTT debut in the Netflix crime thriller film Jaane Jaan. Directed by Sujoy Ghosh of Kahaani and Badla fame, the upcoming film premieres on the streaming platform this Thursday, September 21, and also stars Jaideep Ahlawat and Vijay Varma in the leading roles.
