JNPA chairman Unmesh Wagh emphasised the significance of inclusive leadership in fostering a sense of belonging among employees. He stated that when employees feel valued and heard, they are more motivated to achieve significant milestones. Wagh highlighted that secretarial and administrative roles, though often overlooked, play a crucial part in an organisation’s success.

Focus on Employee Development

The convention addressed various topics, including creating a promotional calendar for employees and establishing training schedules. It also explored collaborative exchange programs with international ports. Regular conventions and annual departmental conferences are planned to further enrich this initiative, according to Wagh.

Sessions during the convention covered HR challenges, innovative strategies, welfare and pay structures, cross-learning opportunities, and stress management. These sessions aimed to provide insights into improving workforce efficiency and well-being.

Infrastructure and Expansion Plans

Since its inception on May 26, 1989, JNPA has been a leading container-handling port in India. It spans 277 hectares and operates five container terminals. The port also includes a shallow water berth for general cargo, a liquid cargo terminal, and a newly constructed coastal berth to boost coastal container traffic.

Additionally, JNPA is developing an all-weather, deep-draft greenfield port at Vadhvan in Maharashtra. This development aims to enhance the port’s capacity and efficiency in handling diverse cargo types.

The convention underscored the importance of continuous learning and adaptation in the port sector. By focusing on employee development and infrastructure expansion, JNPA aims to maintain its position as a premier port authority in India.
