The advance bookings of Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan have crossed Rs 50 crore worldwide.
By Wednesday afternoon, Jawan had seen advance sales of Rs 30.54 crore across India, including Rs 28 crore in Hindi alone. Sacnilk reported that the film had sold 11 lakh tickets across India by Wednesday afternoon. Trade insiders say that in the three hours since, Jawan has added a few crores more to its kitty, taking its India gross to over Rs 32 crore. This means that it surpassed Pathaan’s Rs 32.01 crore mark, which was set in January this year.
The craze for the film is high overseas as well. Pinkvilla reported that by Tuesday, the Atlee film had seen advance sales of $2 million (Rs 16 crore) in foreign territories. As per trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan, the figure reached Rs 18 crore ($2.25 million) by Wednesday evening. This gives Jawan a day one advance booking worldwide gross of Rs 51 crore already, the highest ever by a Hindi film. With about seven hours to go for sales, the number can go much higher, possibly even crossing the Rs 60-crore mark.

Domestically, now only one film in Hindi stands ahead of Jawan. The Hindi dubbed version of KGF Chapter 2 had seen advance booking sales of Rs 40 crore last year, and Jawan is on course to reaching that number too. Whether it reaches there or not remains to be seen though.
Jawan marks Atlee’s maiden foray in Hindi cinema, having delivered four back-to-back hits in Tamil, three of them starring Vijay. The film also marks the Bollywood debut of Nayanthara and composer Anirudh Ravichander. Jawan releases in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu on Thursday.
