Jawan ticket sales have begun and the advance booking numbers for the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer are already record-breaking.
The advance booking of Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan is in full flow. The first few hours for the film at the ticket window have been manic with many shows already going housefull and tickets selling across India. In just five hours, Jawan has managed to surpass the lifetime advance booking collections of several major movies such as Salman Khan’s Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan.
The advance booking for the Atlee film opened on Friday at 10am India time. By 3pm, the film had sold 1.18 lakh tickets for the opening day. Trade sources say that the advance booking gross for the first day is already past Rs 4 crore, which is greater than the total advance booking numbers of Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (Rs 3.39 crore) and Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.
If this surge continues, the film stands to sell 2 lakh tickets by the end of the day and may just surpass the total collections of several hits like Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Ponniyin Selvan 2 as well. The encouraging sign for Jawan is that the Tamil advance booking has also taken a strong start, grossing somewhere between the Rs 15-20 lakh mark in the first five hours itself. This bodes well for the film doing well in south.
The highest advance booking numbers for any Hindi film was the Rs 32 crore managed by Pathaan earlier this year. Shah Rukh now has a chance to break his own record. The way Jawan’s advance booking has opened, it may just rival the total advance booking numbers of RRR (Rs 58 crore) as well.
Jawan marks Atlee’s Bollywood debut. The film’s female lead Nayanthara is also making her foray into the Hindi film industry with the film. Two other major players – the antagonist Vijay Sethupathi and the composer Anirudh Ravichander – are also big names from Tamil cinema. All this means that Jawan is expected to do well down south unlike most other big Bollywood releases. That coupled with a grand opening in the Hindi belt should be able to catapult it past Pathaan and close to RRR.
