Actor Jaaved Jaaferi recently cleared the air on reports that his son, actor Meezaan Jaaferi, is dating megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda. 
In an exclusive interview with Times of India, he said that the two have known each other since school and grew up together an nothing more than “good friends”.
The actor told the publication, “People want content. Being good friends with somebody is considered to be something else always. These children have grown up together, my daughter (Alaviaa Jaaferi) and Navya have been friends since school. They have a common group of friends.” 
He added, “Even Sara Ali Khan and Meezaan were in the same school. They used to come home, hang around till 3 am. It is convenient to link them up as they are always together.”
For the unversed, Meezaan and Navya have often been linked together and reports of them being in a relationship have been surfacing in the media since 2017 after the two were spotted exiting a movie theatre in Mumbai together. The viral photos of Meezaan trying to hide his face were splashed all over the media. 
Recently, Navya Naveli Nanda gave a shout-out to Meezaan for winning a best debut award for his film ‘Malal’. Taking to her Instagram Stories, Navya shared a photo of Meezaan happily posing with his trophy and a certificate of recognition. “Congratulations!!!” she wrote alongside the photo. 
While many believe that it is only a matter of time before Navya and Meezaan make their relationship official, earlier, during an interview with Zoom, Meezaan had said, “Why will I admit it when there is no relationship?,” on being asked, when will he admit to dating Navya. 
“There is no relationship, okay? We’re friends. Friends ka bhi ek relationship hota hai (friendship is also a relationship). It’s not a boyfriend-girlfriend dating relationship. Just cause we get papped outside a theatre leaving with friends, by the way, that doesn’t mean, ‘Oh, we’re dating,” he added.
