Apple recently released the latest iPhone 15 series of flagship iOS smartphones. The AnTuTu scores of the top-end variant in the series have now surfaced.
Apple charges a hefty premium for its iPhone devices. However, the raw performance of these smartphones, costing well over ₹1,00,000 in India lags well behind Android smartphones that are available for less than half its price, suggests the AnTuTu scores.
Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max AnTuTu Scores Revealed
AnTuTu, a popular smartphone benchmarking platform, has released the AnTuTu score for the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Although way better than its predecessor, these scores are nowhere in the league of the flagship Android smartphones.
The Apple iPhone 15 series includes the entry-level iPhone 15, the middle-level iPhone 15 Plus, and the top-end iPhone 15 Pro Max. The AnTuTu scores belong to the Pro Max variant of the Apple iPhone, and it packs 8GB RAM and 1TB of internal storage.
On the AnTuTu benchmark platform, the 8GB + 1TB variant of the iPhone 15 Pro Max scored a total score of 16,41,883 points. It managed a CPU score of 3,92,643 points, a GPU score of 5,97,734 points, a MEM score of 3,06,164 points, and a UX score of 3,45,342 points.
It is important to note that the Pro and the Pro Max variant of the iPhone 15 are powered by Apple’s A17 Pro chipset. This SoC (System on a Chip) is built on the TSMC’s 3nm process node. The A17 Pro packs six CPU cores, with 2 Performance cores and 4 Energy Efficiency cores.
Apple claims it has improved the microarchitecture of the CPU. Additionally, the company has upgraded the onboard GPU to a new architecture and added more cores.
Are Apple iPhone 15 Series Beating Android Smartphones In Raw Performance?
The Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max device being tested was running the latest iOS 17 operating system. Apple’s iOS operating system is arguably a lot smoother or more fluid compared to Android OS. This has helped the smartphone score a lot better in the UX tests (3,45,342 points).
As mentioned above, Apple has managed to build a better iOS smartphone. Technically speaking, the iPhone 14 Pro Max scored 233925 points. The iPhone 15 Pro Max scored 306,164 points, which is substantially higher.
However, AnTuTu scores indicate the raw performance of smartphones. And this is where Apple iPhone devices still fall behind flagship Android smartphones.
Apple has traditionally restricted the amount of RAM on its iPhone devices. However, the company is now adding more RAM. This has helped the iPhone 15 Pro Max score better.
The OnePlus Ace 2 Pro smartphone, for example, managed an overall score of 17,33,703 points on AnTuTu. Its CPU (4,56,555 points), GPU (6,13,916 points), and MEM (363631 points) scores were also higher than the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Hence, Apple still has a long way to go before beating premium Android smartphones in raw performance. Apple iPhone devices already have the CPU and GPU power, in addition to the UX. Perhaps they need to pack more RAM to close the gap.
