Mumbai health experts engaged in a few events on World Heart Day to advocate the need for a change in lifestyle that includes a better diet, in order to have better heart health. And Global Hospital was also one among them. In keeping with the saying, ‘An apple a day keeps the doctor away’, the hospital distributed an apple to every patient and visitor that came to the hospital today. With cases of lifestyle diseases on the rise, which include heart disease the aim was to promote healthy life via healthy eating habits.
Staff wearing masks stationed themselves at the entrance of the hospital to give out the fruit. Around 350 apples were distributed among the visitors at the hospital right from the start of the day. They were surprised, but also happy to get the fruit and learn more about lifestyle changes that can help.

Talking about the importance of taking care of the heart, Dr Praveen Kulkarni, senior cardiologist at the hospital, said, “Heart disease is the leading cause of death. It remains so even in times of COVID-19. I would like to say, please do not ignore cardiac symptoms and seek timely cardiac care. Also, avoid processed foods, try and eat right and maintain meal timings.”
