The prestigious international pageant – Miss Supranational is underway to finding their new queen. However, we definitely cannot move on to the next chapter before giving you a glimpse of a remarkable journey that was of the soon-to-be outgoing queen – Miss Supranational 2019 Anntonia Porsild.

Little did she know how her journey would be when she was crowned the winner in 2019. On being asked how she would like to use her title and platform, the diva responded that she would want to use the title to help people — and with pride, we could say she stayed true to her word!

While every beauty queen dreams of wearing her crown, adorning beautiful designer gowns and being a part of events, and visiting several counties, but for good or worse, this pandemic sure allowed us to see her true beauty — inside out. The soft-spoken, humble, and kind beauty queen made sure to make the most of her journey and help as many people as possible. Often dressed in a t-shirt and jeans, the queen was seen volunteering to help her fellow citizens, Anntonia will forever reign in their hearts. We were able to get in touch with the stunning queen, even amid her busy schedule to cherish her journey, the ongoing pageant, and her future plans. Excerpt.

Anntonia, as you are all set to hand over your crown to the new queen, we’d like to take you back, a flashback to your incredible reign. How was your journey being Miss Supranational 2019?


Well, it wasn’t something that we all expected due to COVID. It was a different reign compared to the other queens. COVID definitely hit everyone unexpectedly in a very negative way, which limited my experience with traveling, meeting everyone just really enjoying the reign that was supposed to happen. But I think having my reign in COVID actually opened my eyes, and my heart, and my mind in a different way that I don’t think I would have learned if I had been able to travel as much as I was supposed to. It was sad at first because we were like, oh, we’re supposed to travel, but soon I tried to take advantage of the situation in a way that, I have a platform now, and people are struggling, they’re at their lowest point. And if I can just be like a beacon of light or like some form of inspiration for them to kind of see things more positively, then I would want to do that. Because I told Andre at the beginning after I won that I want to help people, and you know, helping people doesn’t necessarily mean doing something huge; it can also mean small acts of kindness that can be really impactful. So I used my platform to talk to my fans, the people following me, and going out to different communities in Bangkok, which was hit hard by the pandemic. I went to different villages and areas where people were living in slums and barely making it through because of COVID. And I was working together with the pageant group, various bands, and other queens to distribute, donate hand sanitizers, water, milk, and whatever they needed to protect themselves in this crisis.

While most people sought to keep themselves safe from the world that was falling apart outside, you stepped out from your comfort, not once, twice, but countless times to help people. What were your thoughts, your inspiration?


It was definitely difficult for me because it kind of showed me what was really happening. Because you know, I’m so lucky to have a stable home with a roof over my head and food on the table every day and be able to see this with my own eyes, how people are struggling, it really made me emotional, of course. It taught me a lesson to not take these things for granted because some people don’t have this as easily as I do. So by doing these activities, I didn’t really do it for publicity; I genuinely wanted to help people. Because it needed to be done, I needed people to see that you need to take that step to help people. Because during this pandemic, where everyone is separating from each other, we still need to stand together to be able to give back to the people around us. I definitely grew a lot during my reign, I think, emotionally and mentally as well. But yeah, it was it was a difficult one, but I don’t regret it at all.

A year ago, you wear in the shoes of these stunning women who are now competing for the coveted crown. So how does it feel, watching them mold into fabulous divas, and how do you feel as you’re nearing to crown your successor?


Oh, my goodness, just being here is like so emotional for me because it’s like looking in from the outside how hard the girls worked and how these relationships grow, and just being a part of it is a very happy feeling for me. But at the same time, I’m also kind of sad that I have to hand over my crown; even though I had it longer than everyone else, I feel a little bit greedy (giggles). But yeah, I really have this like, really strong bond with the supranational organization and with the next successor I know that the organization definitely doesn’t only choose someone because of how they look on the outside, but they really choose someone for their heart, and who they really are. So I honestly, even now, I don’t even know who is the winner because everyone has so much potential, and all the candidates are really, really strong. But ya, it is a very emotional moment for me.

So what are your future plans now that you will be handing over your duties and responsibilities as the reigning queen?


Right now, my main focus is to finish my bachelor’s; I’m one term away from completing my bachelor’s in advertising and public relations. So I would really love to finish that first before I get started on any project because I feel like this needs to be done; you know, education is so important. But apart from that, I’m looking to kind of enter the entertainment industry in any way possible. I’ve had someone approach me for making music in Thailand; I’ve had agencies from abroad ask me for modeling. And it’s all happening very fast, like all at the same time, so I’m very overwhelmed and grateful that it is. But I haven’t really thought about it in depth yet because I’m living in the moment right now. And I really want to focus on finishing my bachelor’s before I step forward into a different career path.

Anntonia, you had the opportunity to visit our country, India, at a time when flying international was not such a hassle. So how was your experience being in India?


Yes, of course, I remember! I loved my trip to India, also because it almost felt like I was coming home, and even just talking about it, I’m getting emotional. But actually, what I loved about it was a sense of feeling so welcome because my parents lived in India before I was born. They would always tell me all these amazing stories and experiences they had, and now I actually got to see it with my own eyes. So meeting the people, being welcomed by everyone, I did not feel like a stranger or tourists, you know, I felt like a part of the community, and then meeting like the entire team and being able to be a part of the LIVA Miss Diva 2020 competition was amazing. I got to see the show, the dancing, and the girls; I loved all of it and trying on all the food; oh my gosh, I love Indian food, so being able to try it like straight from India, was amazing. I tried pani puri, but I felt like if I ate too much, I wouldn’t fit in my lehenga.
