Gadar 2 is now behind Baahubali 2 (Hindi) and Pathaan, the top two highest-grossing Hindi films in India.
Sunny Deol and Manish Wadhwa’s action-packed sequel Gadar 2 continues to set the box office on fire as the film has surpassed the domestic earnings of the Hindi version of KGF Chapter 2 and has become the third highest-grossing Hindi film in India behind Pathaan and Baahubali 2 (Hindi).
The film had earned Rs 426.20 crore net in India till its fifteenth day on Friday, August 25. As per the early estimates provided by the entertainment tracking portal Sacnilk.com, Gadar 2 added Rs 12.50 crore in its collection on Saturday, August 26, taking the total net India collection to Rs 438.70 crore.
This has taken Sunny Deol film past Yash and Prashanth Neel’s KGF Chapter 2 (Hindi), which had collected Rs 434 crore in India. The top two highest-grossing Hindi films in India are Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan with a net domestic collection of Rs 543 crore and the Hindi dubbed version of SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2 with a net domestic collection of Rs 510 crore.
Looking at the speed at which Gadar 2 is breaking box office records, it won’t be surprising if the film crosses the Rs 500 crore mark in India and might challenge the second position of Baahubali 2 (Hindi) as no major Hindi film is releasing in the theatres until September 7 when Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan will wreak havoc at the box office.
Apart from Sunny Deol’s Tara Singh, the film also has Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma reprising their roles as Sakeena and Jeete aka Charanjeet Singh from the first part. Manish Wadhwa has been the new addition to the lead cast as he plays the main villain Major General Hamid Iqbal in the sequel.
