Netflix’s recently released show ‘A Suitable Boy’ has got into trouble over a kissing scene. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders have alleged that the show has ‘hurt religious sentiments’.
BJP leader and Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra has demanded action against Netflix over the content.
Gaurav Tiwari, who is the National President of BJP’s Yuva Morcha, filed a complaint in Reeva, Madhya Pradesh.

“Netflix is promoting love jihad,” Tiwari said in a tweet in Hindi. He shared the scene from ‘A Suitable Boy’ where a Hindu woman and a Muslim boy share a kiss at a temple.
BJP spokesperson and advocate Gaurav Goel took a similar action. He also demanded an FIR to be lodged against Netflix.
“If any OTT platform is deliberately insulting the Hindu Gods & Goddess, pls file the complaint with the police or local court under Section 295A of IPC. The law will take care of such offenders. In case of any assistance, you can contact me or @chakusameer,” he tweeted.
Mishra, meanwhile, said, “I have instructed authorities to check what legal action can be taken against these scenes on the Netflix OTT platform and the producer-director of the series”.

Some time back, Mishra had confirmed that Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led BJP government was working towards bringing a law against ‘Love Jihad’.
‘A Suitable Boy’ is directed by critically acclaimed filmmaker Mira Nair. It is an adaptation of Vikram Seth’s novel by the same name.
The six-episode web series, set in Independent India from 1951, released on Netflix on October 23. It featured Ishaan Khatter, Tabu, Tanya Maniktala and Rasika Dugal in pivotal roles.
