In a recent filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), Bharti Airtel disclosed that the company has been imposed with a total penalty of ₹3,15,000 for an alleged violation of subscriber verification norms under the License Agreement. This penalty was a result of a sample CAF (Customer Acquisition Form) audit conducted by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). The audit found discrepancies in Airtel’s subscriber verification processes, which led to the fines being levied by different regional branches of the DoT. The penalties were broken down as follows: Rs.27,000 imposed by the Department of Telecommunications, Mumbai; Rs.1,31,000 by the Department of Telecommunications, Maharashtra; Rs.1,24,000 by the Department of Telecommunications, Uttar Pradesh East; Rs.2,000 by the Department of Telecommunications, Kolkata; and Rs.31,000 by the Department of Telecommunications, Odisha.
Bharti Airtel Q2FY25 Financials:
According to the earnings report from The Hindu Business Line, Bharti Airtel has reported a remarkable 168% year-on-year (YoY) increase in its consolidated net profit (after exceptional items), reaching Rs.3,593 crore for the second quarter ending September 30. This represents a significant jump from Rs.1,340.7 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year. In addition to the robust profit growth, Airtel’s consolidated revenue for the second quarter of FY25 also showed a solid increase of 12% YoY, rising to Rs.41,473 crore. This growth in revenue is due to the company’s continued strength in its mobile services segment, as well as growth in its other business verticals such as broadband and digital services.
