Headlined by Ayushmann Khurrana, the comedy Dream Girl 2 was released in the theatres on Friday, August 25. The film is doing well at the box office despite the ongoing tsunami of Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2, which is unstoppable and is breaking box office records with each passing day.

Dream Girl 2 earned Rs 14.02 crore on its second day, taking the two-day collection to Rs 24.71 crore. Sharing the official numbers, trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his social media handles and wrote, “#DreamGirl2 SHINES on Day 2. Gathers speed at metros, witnesses growth at Tier-2 centres. Eyes ₹ 41 cr [+/-] weekend, which is an EXCELLENT TOTAL, more so since #DG2 faces the fury of #Gadar2 at mass sectors. Fri 10.69 cr, Sat 14.02 cr. Total: ₹ 24.71 cr. #India biz. The #RakshaBandhan holiday [on Wed; 30 Aug] will give #DreamGirl2 the required push to put up a SOLID SCORE in Week 1.”

Earlier on Friday, the film earned Rs 10.69 crore, giving Ayushmann Khurrana the biggest opening in his career, surpassing Bala and Dream Girl which had collected Rs 10.15 crore and Rs 10.05 crore respectively, on their opening days in 2019. The actor thanked the audiences on his social media and wrote, “Thank you for giving me my life’s biggest opening.”

Apart from Ayushmann, the film features Ananya Panday, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Vijay Raaz, Manjot Singh, Abhishek Banerjee, Manoj Joshi, and Annu Kapoor in prominent roles. Raaj Shaandilyaa, who helmed the prequel in his directorial debut, has also directed Dream Girl 2 produced by Shobha Kapoor and Ektaa R Kapoor under their banner Balaji Motion Pictures.
