Apple has officially rolled out iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 for supported devices. Users can download the latest updates for their eligible iPads and iPhones through the settings if they haven’t already received a notification.
Apple confirmed the release of iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 during its recent iPhone 15 event, where the Cupertino-based tech giant announced four new iPhones. Apple’s latest iPhone and iPad operating systems were first unveiled at WWDC 2023, which took place back in June.
Apple iOS 17: List of Compatible iPhones
- iPhone 15 Series: iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max.
- iPhone 14 Series: iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max.
- iPhone 13 Series: iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max.
- iPhone 12 Series: iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max.
- iPhone 11 Series: iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max.
- The other iPhones to receive the iOS 17 update include the iPhone X, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR. Moreover, the iPhone SE (2020) and iPhone SE (2022) will also get the iOS 17 update.
How to install iOS 17 on compatible iPhone?
- Go to Settings > General > Software Update
- Select the update notice (Install Now or Download and Install or Download Tonight)
- Enter Passcode > Agree to terms and conditions

- iPad (6th Gen and later)
- iPad Mini (5th and 6th Generation)
- iPad Air (3rd Gen and later)
- 11-inch iPad Pro (1st Gen and later)
- 12.9-inch iPad Pro (2nd Gen and later)
How to install iPadOS 17 on compatible iPad?
- Open Settings App > Select General > Choose Software Update > Tap Download and Install
- Accept Apple’s terms of service
- Please note that your iPad will reboot multiple times during the installation process
It is advisable to backup your iPad before initiating the installation process. Here’s how you can do it in three simple steps.
- Head to Settings
- Select iCloud > Turn on iCloud Backup
- Tap Backup Now to manually backup your iPad
iPadOS 17 and iOS 17 are set to bring a ton of new, impressive features to the iPad and iPhone. Moreover, Apple is also set to release macOS Sonoma for compatible mac PCs on September 26. Additionally, Apple WatchOS 10 and tvOS 17 are also available for supported Apple devices.
