Singer-actor Aditya Narayan has been the talk of the town after he made the shocking revelation of him being left with only Rs 18,000 in his bank account. 
The news went viral and was immediately picked up by several media outlets that claimed the singer had gone ‘bankrupt’. However, DNA in its original report dated October 15, quoted digital portal Bollywood Bubble with whom Aditya spoke in a video chat on September 26, and mentioned the singer’s exact quotes where he stated that he has only ‘Rs 18,000 left in his bank account’, nowhere mentioning that he had gone ‘bankrupt’. 
On October 16, Aditya, in an interview to indianexpress.com refuted claims of him being ‘bankrupt’ and said he was misquoted by the publication.
To Indian Express, Aditya said, “I was shocked when so many people started calling me after the report. I must, however, admit that I was also touched because a lot of friends in the industry offered help. That goes to show that they genuinely care for me. It’s unprecedented times, and none of us had ever imagined sitting at home for months. I did face a tough time like many others, but I am not bankrupt. Everything is fine now, and I hope things take a turn for the better from here.”
Meanwhile, in the video interaction that took place on September 26, 2020, with digital portal Bollywood Bubble, the renowned singer while speaking about the coronavirus lockdown and the impact it has had on the citizens, can be seen talking about his financial crisis, stating that he has “literally finished his savings”. 
He even went on to say that he had to withdraw all of the money that he had invested in mutual funds because he said, “nobody had planned I will not be working for a year.”
In the said video, Aditya while speaking to the journalist, picks up his phone, looks at it and quips that he has only Rs 18,000 left in his bank account and mentions that if he does not start working by October, he will have “no money” and would have to sell off his “bike or something”. He says, “it’s really tough.”

“I’ve literally finished my savings. All the money I had invested in Mutual Funds, I had to withdraw all of that money. Because nobody had planned that I wouldn’t be working for a year and yet chilling it out. Nobody plans life like that unless you are worth some thousands of crores. So, there is no choice. Like I’ve some Rs 18,000 left in my account. So, if I don’t start working by October, I will have no money. I will have to sell off my bike or something. It’s really tough. At the end of the day, you’ve to take some harsh calls. When you take those harsh calls, there will be a certain section of people who will say that this decision is incorrect,” said Aditya Narayan in the interview.
In the said video interaction with Bollywood Bubble, Aditya went on to talk about how India’s economy has been hit due to COVID-19 while mentioning that we have all become ‘frontline warriors’ since we are venturing out to ‘earn bread and butter’ and risking our lives while being ‘aware of it’. 
However, later, after the news went viral and several media portals, excluding DNA, reported that ahead of his wedding with long-time girlfriend Shweta Agarwal the singer had gone ‘bankrupt’, Aditya Narayan spoke to Indian Express and rubbished all the reports. 
But, the fact of Aditya facing a financial crisis and being left with just Rs 18,000 as reported by DNA in its original report has been admitted by the singer himself in the above video.
