When true winter weather starts to roll around, you can start to feel like you’re getting lost in all the bulky layers you’re toting around to keep warm. Well, we have a seriously novel solution from one of our favorite retailers to give the illusion of artfully chosen layers without bundling you up too much.
Allow us to introduce you to mock shirts, which we just spotted on COS. The genius idea is essentially a bib-like top, featuring just the collar and top part of a shirt that would normally poke out from underneath another top. It still fastens with front buttons, but it also features subtle elastic straps to keep it in place. Simply pair one with your favorite sweater and don your favorite winter coat to compensate for the loss of part of one layer, and you’ve got a seasonally appropriate–looking outfit without all the bulk. We have a feeling these are going to be our new favorite winter essentials.
