This week fans and critics alike have been speculating over the mental health of Kanye West. Across the last week his behaviour during his Saint Pablo tour has been increasingly erratic: he drew jeers for praising Donald Trump in San Jose and only performed three songs in Sacramento before indulging in a rant about Beyoncé and Hillary Clinton. Yesterday a spokesperson for the rapper announced the remaining 21 Saint Pablo tour dates would be cancelled.

Now it’s being reported that the star has been hospitalised for a “psychiatric emergency.” While accounts are mixed, it appears the LAPD responded to a medical welfare call on Monday afternoon at Kanye’s trainer’s home, which resulted in him being taken to hospital by paramedics. The rapper’s personal physician made the call to 911 and reported that he was suffering from “temporary psychosis due to sleep deprivation and dehydration.”

Looking back on his year, it’s no wonder that Kanye is feeling the strain. Not only was his wife, Kim Kardashian, the victim of a brutal armed robbery, but he released an album, presented two fashion collections and undertook a national tour.

Friends and supporters have reached out to the star, urging him to take care of himself. If anyone deserves a bit of down time, it’s Kanye.
